LHAS Beneficiary of “Under the Tents at Piatt Place”

Bright lights, pounding music and amazing clothing kicked off Pittsburgh’s 2011 Fashion Week at the “Under the Tent in Market Square” event on Monday, September 26, 2011 sponsored by The Shoppes at Piatt Place. The event beneficiary was Ladies Hospital Aid Society(LHAS). One hundred percent of the Tiffany & Co. Mystery Blue Boxes sales will be donated to LHAS!

The evening jumpstarted into action with VIP Cocktail Receptions hosted by McCormick & Schmick’s and The Capital Grille. Walking to both restaurant locations, guests were delighted to sample McCormick & Schmick’s “Sushi and Martinis” while The Capital Grille offered fabulous “Wine and Hors d’Oeuvres for the Fashion Forward”. Many LHAS members wore black tee shirts that had “PFW” in rhinestones for Pittsburgh Fashion Week. And several also sported “fascinators”-the little hats on headbands that were so popular in the recent royal wedding and are available in the LHAS Gift Shops at Montefiore and Presbyterian Hospitals.

Guests took a short walk down Fifth Avenue to Market Square to a large tent sheltering a runway that looked like it just came from Bryant Park. With the red carpet and the photographers leading up to the entrance, it was a surreal moment for any fashion-loving guest!

The fashion show began with a greeting by the amazing Teresa Cavoti, chair of the event along with Dottie Kichta and Renee Sroka. Kristine Sorenson of KDKA-TV, served as hostess for the evening, looking chic in a black patent jacket and crisp white blouse. With dazzling lights and upbeat music, the mood was set even before the clothing hit the runway. LHAS’s own Laura Kronk, Bonnie Levine and Dolly Warwick beautifully modeled the Doncaster Fall and Holiday lines along with models from Docherty Modeling and Talent Agency.

The models’ hair and makeup was done by Izzazu Salon, who also hosted the fabulous post show VIP party at their spacious and lush salon at Piatt Place. The grand Fairmont Hotel outdid themselves with spectacular offerings for their “Designer Desserts and Champagne”. Izzazu Salon also sponsored the uplifting music of No Bad JuJu Unplugged

Doncaster hosted a “Meet the Designer” at the Doncaster on Fifth Studio featuring VP of Design Patricia Clyne. Piatt Properties gave guided tours of their plush Piatt Place condo.

From Bryant Park to Market Square was a great success and a wonderful way to kick off the 2011 Pittsburgh Fashion Week. LHAS gives many thanks to everyone involved with “Under the Tents at Piatt Place” and an extra especial thank you to Tiffany & Co.!
