Become a Member of LHAS!

If you are interested in joining LHAS it's as easy as filling out our New Member Form faxing it to our office at 412-692-2682! As a member of LHAS you will receive invitations to all LHAS gatherings, discounts at all of our hospital operations, complimentary lunch, and parking in exchange for your volunteer hours. If you are able, we would love nothing more than to have you volunteer within LHAS. There are many opportunities available, so please consider donating your time. There is a yearly membership fee of $50.00 or a lifetime membership fee of $500.00.

We have many exciting opportunities for member involvement. By becoming a member and actively participating in LHAS activities, you not only give back to your community, you also gain valuable friendships that will bless you for the rest of your life. Get involved with In-House Sales, Emergency Care Packages, outreach with Urban Impact, or a variety of other activities LHAS conducts throughout the year. Better yet, get your friends involved as well!

Message from the Vice President

Spring is finally here and we are ready to begin a new year for LHAS. Our Membership Meeting on Thursday, April 14, 2011 from 9-11 am will present our slate of Officers and Directors for 2011-2012 and the membership's opportunity to vote on them. The meeting includes a continental Breakfast and a short program on Palliative Care. The complete agenda for the Membership meeting is here.

In May, we come together for our Annual Meeting for our Installation of Officers and Directors. We have a wonderful theme of "You've Got the Look" with a fashion presentation by SAKS Fifth Avenue and our own Dolores Warwick and Folio Productions. Afterwards, SAKS is hosting a Champagne Reception at their store. Please join us for a full day of fun and fashion with our fabulous LHAS members on Thursday, May 5, 2011 from 10:30 am - 1:30 at the Omni William Penn Hotel, and then from 1:30 pm till whenever at SAKS Fifth Avenue. Our members are the lifeblood of LHAS and we are grateful for and appreciative of all their hard work these past months. We accomplish much and touch many lives because we have amazing members who care and give with so much love. Thank you!

What it Means the be a Good Board Member

It is imperative that self-assessments of your performance be done regularly as we would not want to waste your valuable time. You may use this checklist to assess your present level of participation and to set goals for your future involvement in assuring the success of the organization.

• Represent LHAS and its programs and services to stakeholders including community, funders and clients.
• Ensure effective performance of LHAS programs through ongoing planning and evaluation by chairing or participating on a committee.
• Contribute financially to LHAS fundraising events, i.e. annual Gala, Spring and Fall Luncheons.
• Pay Board Dues of $100, separate and independent of regular annual membership dues ($50).
• Be punctual and reliable in fulfilling duties.
• Exhibit dignity, courtesy and consideration.
• Be compassionate, loyal, understanding and willing.
• Volunteer for and willingly accept assignments and complete them thoroughly and on time.
• Prepare self well for meetings, and review and comment on minutes and reports.
• Be able to give the 'elevator' speech to potential new members.
• Recruit and engage two (2) new members by June 30, 2012.
• Attend Board meetings (6/2/11; 9/22/11; 11/17/11)
