Message from the Vice President

I am privileged to serve as Vice President of Social Services for the Ladies Hospital Aid Society (LHAS). We continue to reach out and impact those individuals in need in our community, which was the founding mission statement of the women who began LHAS over 100 years ago. We maintain this noble tradition through our Social Services programs. We have experienced a busy and productive year in Social Services. LHAS designated $130,000 through our allocations programs; those funds were set aside to benefit specific patient needs within UPMC. We also maintain programs such as the LHAS Patient Care Packages. Last year we assembled over 1000 packages that were provided to families experiencing an unforeseen stay in the hospital. Finally, this spring we will celebrate National Social Work Month by sponsoring a tea for UPMC staff involved with social work. We are proud of the LHAS Social Services tradition.
