Michelle Walker Spinks
Vice President
Social Services
I am honored to have the opportunity and challenge to serve Ladies Hospital Aid Society as Vice President of Social Services. Our Society was founded by dedicated, caring women with noble goals and determination to achieve them. My goals for the coming year are trefoil.
First, I hope to expand the portfolio of LHAS sponsored social service programs. Along this vein, we recently launched the LHAS Patient Family Care Packages to support families experiencing unforeseen stays in the hospital. In addition, we are in the planning stages of implementing the LHAS CLOTHES CLOSET. This project will clothe trauma patients when they are released to go home from the hospital.
Second, I plan to extend the scope of our existing programs. For example, during Social Services Month, LHAS honored Social Service Workers with complimentary beauty services at our LHAS Beauty Salon. We not only included workers from the Oakland Campus, but also from UPMC Shadyside and Hillman Cancer Center.
Finally, I want to engage our membership in compelling LHAS projects that improve the quality of life in our compassionate community. If you are looking for a volunteer opportunity that will leave you smiling all day, try a little Social Service!
